Power Washing – Selecting the Right Nozzle or Tip
To do power washing effectively and efficiently, you will need to select the correct nozzle and/or tip on the hand held cleaning unit . Most power washing machines come with interchangeable spray nozzles / tips, designed to perform two different functions.
One of the functions is to reduce the overall pressure and also to draw the detergent through the wand. The other function is to generate a high pressure rinse at different spray angles.
To determine which spray angle or pressure setting, power washers may come with several color-coded tips/nozzles (red, yellow, green, and white) These tips vary from 0 degrees to 40 degrees in angle of spray.
In most cases, the smallest spray angle number delivers the most focused “punch.” So, if you are wanting to remove a stubborn mark from you driveway, you would use a 0 degree angle.
Consequently, if you want to power wash away, debris (such as dirt, leaves, sand, etc.) from your house surfaces, you would use a wider angle such as 25 or 45 degree nozzle.
Please Note: Make absolutely sure the nozzle/tip is firmly attached to the hand held cleaning unit before operating it. Neglect or failure to do so, could result in the tip becoming a high speed and dangerous projectile, that could end up being lost or worse, causing damage or injury to the property and/or persons.
